THE "SCALE UP" SERIES 2
FACELIFT
Hi there,
How are you doing today and hope summer is coming on well?. For me, August has been quite an interesting month as it's been all about upscaling spaces.
Beyond the insights I will be sharing on this series, expect to get access to real life scenarios as I get involved in helping individuals, organisations and families plan and execute their space upgrade in the course of the summer break.
In my last post I established 3 approaches to upgrading your spaces, that is; Facelift, Quick Fixes and Renovation, but my focus today is on Facelift, as the most balanced measure on the scales of budget, time, and scope of work.
Perhaps sharing snippets from a case study project for an anonymous client will come in handy π:
Just Before The Facelift
Remember facelift defined is any activity undertaken to renew, revamp, update, or improve the appearance of something.
The 'something' in this case, is this 16mΒ² bedroom that was not just dysfunctional but also did not fit the personality of the young and vibrant occupant who couldn't wait to have her space upgraded π.
So I came on board to help improve both the functionality (usage) and aesthetics (beauty) of this seemingly small but workable bedroom.
Why Facelift?
It is important you know that we could have opted for Quick Fixes or Renovation as alternatives in this same scenario, so why did we opt for facelift?
- the space was not functional, so it required space planning, and that's not a quick fix.
- we had a moderate budget that exceeded what would be needed for a quick fix on one hand, and yet was no where close to what's required for renovation on the other hand.
- the time we had available as well as the scope of work were suitable for a facelift.
I hope you get the point now?
And See What We've Got!
And here we are with:
- a comfy bed with an unusual headboard and understorage
- improved efficiency in storage brought to fur by this corner wardrobe
- a dresser and a sitting area that appeared like magic π
- and much more
This is a very good example of a facelift and I guess you wouldn't agree less.
So if I may ask again, would you like to know the category of upgrade your space would require?
