THE "SECOND CHANCE" SERIES 2: BEAUTIFUL EXCHANGE!!!

THE

"SECOND

CHANCE"

SERIES 2:

BEAUTIFUL

EXCHANGE!!!

Hello and Happy Easter Peeps,

It's that time of the year when we remember and celebrate Divinity taking a second chance on humanity.

Coincidentally, the essence of Easter celebration is in complete sync with The "Second Chance" series, where I seek to help my audience take a second chance on some crucial elements within their spaces.

My last post aimed at helping you resolve dysfunctional layout, and I'm quite confident you have gained some insights on different shapes of spaces and how to best utilize them.

Now let's have a look at what I love to call the "beautiful exchange", a concept of how you can reuse worn out or 'out of fashion' items in your space, making them more appealing, and having a positive impact on your space.

I should mention as I proceed that there are several ideas to achieving beautiful exchanges, however I would categorize them into 3 aspects namely πŸ‘‡

#1:

FACIALS

To all the ladies out there, by facials I'm not referring to facial makeup πŸ’„πŸ˜„

Facial is a terminology I personally adopt for components that clads or disguises the main part of a furniture piece.

So a good example would be the doors on your closet/wardrobe, there is so much you can do with them to achieve a complete turnaround.

One option would be to change wooden doors to glass doors with some lights incorporated for see through, with the originally built cabinet still in use as shown in the image displayed here.

The same concept applies to other piece like your kitchen cabinet, chest of drawers, dresser and so much more.

Let me know when you think πŸ’¬

#2:

TOPPINGS

Worried about patches and scratches on top of your work desk, kitchen counter and other parts of your furniture pieces, that is too glaring to be ignored?

Then it's time to embrace simple yet effective solutions like coating, spraying, overlaying and so on.

In the case of the work top displayed in this picture, a stained effect was created to blend both the damage and the remedy, leaving the object with an antique feel that is simply priceless.

The point here is, be daring enough to try the unusual.

#3:

EMBELLISHMENT

For most items in your space, beyond the core functions they serve, there is something attached strictly for beauty and nothing more.

Using window drapes (curtains) as a case study, there are embellishments such as tassels, fringes, caps, finials and other components that can be changed to match trending designs from time to time.

Taking a wild guess, the question in your mind would then be; what if the fabric itself is out of fashion?

Then you can adopt the mix and match concept displayed in the picture attached to this slide, where a section of the old fabric is trimmed off at the top for a mix with the new. A beautiful exchange that wouldn't cost a fortune.

To achieve significant makeovers like this, do well to visit accessories stores around you, ask questions and engage professionals like my self.

You will return with a smile on your face and a gift for me 😊. And here is where it's all begins πŸ‘‡
