THE "LIFE-AFTER-DEATH" SERIES 5
RENEW | REVAMP | DISCARD
Hello Audience,
I hope September was really good to you?
It's the last day of the month and my last post on a series that explored ideas and thoughts for reviving and revamping items that have exceeded their expected lifespan in your space. I guess it's been worthwhile.
Have you observed all the series in the 3rd quarter has been about fixing stuff?. In July it was "Beauty in a mess", August was about Facelift/Quick Fixes/Renovation, while the revive and revamp talk came up in September.
I wouldn't say it's coincidence that all of this is ending just a day to the National Independence Day in Nigeria.
This got me thinking and so I decided to go in a different direction today, as I connect the dot between the series that featured in the 3rd quarter with a national call to Nigerians out there, as we celebrate our 63rd year as a republic.
Apologies to my non-Nigerian audience as I direct today's post on a renew, revamp and discard mission for Nigeria 🇳🇬 👇
#RENEW🇳🇬
You would agree with me that everything starts in the mind, the design for a building, a business idea and even a call for war, all begins with imaginations.
I understand that we are all at liberty to imagine both positive and negative stuff, but I'm yet to comprehend how easy it is to welcome good imaginations for oneself and yet find it extremely difficult to do the same for a nation that has given us an origin, a name, a family and perhaps for some of us the education we now leverage for global relevance.
This is obviously not the best place to talk about national issues, but allow me seize this opportunity to lend my voice to the labour of our heroes past, so it doesn't go in vain.
It's time to take a break and ask ourselves, is it Nigeria I have issues with? Or the leadership of Nigeria?
If it is the latter, then let's take a break from those negative thoughts and talks about this beautiful nation called Nigeria.
#REVAMP🇳🇬
Maybe I'm oblivious to the realities that may qualify Nigeria as 'an entity that has exceeded it's expected lifespan' in some ways, however history keeps revealing truths about nations that have gone on a revamp mission from being an extremely bad and sorry case to what is now an envy of other nations.
Attached is the video of a city called Chongqing in South western China, a former war torn zone that has now become a world tourist attraction, and my mind wouldn't fail me to imagine same as what the the city of Maiduguri (North-East, Nigeria) could become in a few years from now.
Before you yell at me, don't forget it's "MY" imagination... And it can be yours too, if only you open up your mind and embrace new possibilities that completely negates current realities.
Just think about it
#DISCARD🇳🇬
Your thoughts and imaginations about the Nigeria you know today, might not project any iota of hope, it's okay and I wouldn't judge you.
I feel the same way sometimes too, but you know what?, It's high time we all discarded the thoughts of impossibility and explore every possible options (available and non-available) to see the emergence of a better Nigeria, the same way we see a glimpse of hope that drives us towards revamping the used furniture pieces in our spaces, uping our game at work, or even seeking relocation to nations that appear to have it all together.
I anticipate this will buttress the "Renewed Hope" mantra of the current dispensation/administration in Nigeria, but believe me when I say this is not in any way a political write up.
Mehn!!!, I usually don't do this but it is what it is.
So my fellow Nigerians, beyond matters relating to your spaces, please feel free to holla at me on subjects about national development.
⚠️☠️🧯POSITIVE VIBES ONLY PLEASE
I wish you all a Happy Independence Day celebration in advance, God bless Nigeria 🙏🇳🇬
To my non-Nigerian audience,
I remain Kenny, the interior designer and project manager you have always known 🙂
