THE "CATCH UP" SERIES 2: GENERATION NEXT!!!

THE "CATCH UP"

SERIES 2:

GENERATION NEXT!!!

Hi there, trust you are doing great this weekend.

It's The "Catch up" series, where I get to share extracts from my conversations with some folks in the design and build Industry, whom I haven't had the privilege to reach out to in a while.

I begin with SAM, a representative from a clan of upcoming world class professionals.

And here is his Bio πŸ‘‡

SAM is an interior designer and Archviz artist who blends creativity with technical precision to bring spaces to life.

He started out as an intern with Feet and Inches in 2019, where he obtained trainings on CAD drawing and architectural visualisations.

Over the years Sam has honed his skills in both traditional design principles and cutting-edge visualization technique and his passion lies in crafting immersive environments that not only captivate the eye but also evoke pleasant emotion and functionality.

From conceptualization to execution, SAM has proven his ability to exceed expectations and create unforgettable experiences through his designs.

Footnote: I have a lot to say about Sam but allow me summarize my work experience with him using the phrase; "UTILITY PLAYER" πŸ˜‚

Here is a peek into our 58 minutes conversation πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

#Q1:

WHAT RISK DID YOU TAKE RECENTLY?

First, I should say I'm a risk taker by nature which implies I take risks almost everyday.

However the one that comes to mind and that is most recent is "HAVING TO EXIT A PROJECT THAT HOLDS HUGE POTENTIALS FOR MY CAREER, JUST TO MAINTAIN SANITY OF MIND AND SOUL"

The work environment was hostile and my relationships in that work space was getting toxic.

Follow up question:

Me: Hmmm, I salute your courage. And talking about risks, I remember your gist about riding a bike from Lagos to Ondo (somewhere in southwest, Nigeria) as a member of the Man O' war corp. How did that feel?

Sam: It felt like flying in the air πŸ˜‚πŸ˜„

#Q2:

WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON A.I AND IT'S THREAT TO YOUR JOB AS A VISUAL DESIGNER?

I honestly don't feel threatened because I am well rounded on both designs and execution, but truth be told, A.I is a force that every visual designer out there should never undermine.

Fortunately for me, currently there are "INCONSISTENCIES WITH RENDERING OUTPUTS ON A.I GENERATED DESIGNS" which I honestly hope won't be rectified until I'm retired πŸ˜…

Also, every visual designer should seek to become relevant to the point where they would be respected enough to be involved in conversations with the parties championing A.I

Follow up question:

Me: Well said Sam. And if I may ask, when do you plan to retire?

Sam: At 35, as a visual designer. At 100 as a builder, if my strength permits πŸ˜‚

#Q3:

KINDLY SHARE ONE FUNNY MOMENT ON THE JOB AS A VISUAL DESIGNER

Arrgh, there are one too many but I clearly remember "HAVING TO KEEP MY LAPTOP IN A DEEP FREEZER AS A WAY TO MITIGATE THE HEAT GENERATED BY THE LAPTOP IN THE COURSE OF MY RENDERINGS" πŸ˜„πŸ˜…πŸ˜„

Of course I have upgraded my gadgets and wouldn't have to do that anymore but these are some of the realities life present us on our way to achieving success.

I'm sure you have an idea of what I'm talking about.

Me: Yes I sure do even tough I haven't had the need to render in a long while.

<<< CUT

I guess you had a good read folks.

I hope to make a podcast with Sam in the nearest future, but for now please make do with what I have
