THE "CATCH UP" SERIES 4: THE STICKLER!!!

THE "CATCH UP"

SERIES 4:

THE

STICKLERS!!!

Hey peeps,

Trust this post meets you well, and I guess it's been worthwhile following my conversations with folks in the design and build Industry.

I have featured Sam, who represents a clan of fast risers in the industry, and Roy, whose exploit in architecture cuts across different continents of the world.

In reference to the introduction of The "Catch up" series, I should have one more person to go, however I had a change of mind πŸ€”

I decided to make it a trio, featuring 3 amazing folks I have always known to be sticklers on doing things right.

Ladies and gentlemen let the drum roll πŸ₯ for πŸ‘‡

KUNLE, NOSA AND BIOLA

Unlike Kenny who almost always have a change of concept at the slightest brainwave πŸ˜„, these dudes overlook the pressures and damn the consequences that comes with doing the right thing.

The following slides hold excerpts from my conversations with the aforementioned persons, with each question proceeded by their bioπŸ‘‡

#1:

MEET

KUNLE

A Building Construction and Real Estate Consultant with a wealth of experience in the design and build Industry. He is the go-to-guy for all building construction solutions, from conception to completion; with project delivery that spans across residential, retail, commercial, hospitality and industrial sector.

I have worked with Kunle on a couple of projects and looking in hindsight, I must commend the accuracy of his estimations. To put it straight, when Kunle speaks about cost, negligence is at owner's risk πŸ˜„

Q: CAN YOU SHARE SOME INSIGHTS ON HOW YOU ATTAIN ACCURACY WITH YOUR PROJECT COST ESTIMATIONS?

It's basically about doing my due diligence, since the goal every time is to deliver and give my very best.

I APPROACH EVERY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT TASKS BE IT COST ESTIMATION OR OTHER THINGS WITH CHILD-LIKE CURIOSITY. THAT LEADS ME TO STUDY, RESEARCH AND MAKE PROPER FINDINGS ABOUT THE TASK IN FRONT OF ME.

There are times where I have to collaborate with or approach other professionals for insight - I believe two heads are better than one.

I also try to break things down into its simplest bits and pieces, no matter how many times I've done such tasks before, then assemble and fit them back together. That way I eliminate assumptions that comes from over-confidence.

It's also good to be a kind of perfectionist, it leads to "over-thinking", that makes you to be meticulous. I believe that I've shared my general approach to getting accurate cost estimations with these few points.

#2:

MEET

NOSA

Mr. Nosa is the C.E.O at NOSPAT, a venture that supplies top quality building materials across Nigeria. Folks like him play a critical role in ensuring delivery of quality materials that allows for quality output in the industry.

He has also been a pillar of support to many establishments (including mine), by making provision for procurement arrangement that allows for payments after supplies.

I recently had a conversation with him where I asked

Q: HOW HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO SUSTAIN THE DECISION TO STICK TO QUALITY IN SPITE OF THE OBVIOUS COMPROMISES BY MANY OF YOUR CONTEMPORARIES?

I have a value system that drives my decisions as a business person, and it is hinged on the belief that THE LONGER THE TIME YOU PUT INTO CONSIDERATION IN WHAT YOU DO, THE BETTER THE QUALITY OF THE DECISIONS YOU MAKE.

My plans for NOSPAT exceeds this immediate period and our goal is to have an establishment that transcends generations, so in view of that, I just cannot find where compromise in standard of my products fit.

And it's interesting how those who compromise come behind to demand for our products when push comes to shove.

Kenny, I speak in parables πŸ˜„

# 3:

MEET

BIOLA

'B' as I love to call him is an interior designer and project manager with a reliability quotient that is next to none. He has featured on top notch projects in the industry and he has been consistent with his dedication to delivering on time, budget and quality.

Biola and I have featured on several projects as freelance professionals, and at no point did he fail to meet and surpass expectations.

It's difficut to forget how Biola held the fort at the times I needed him the most, and this explains why my question to him is quite personal.

Q: WHY DO YOU ALWAYS STICK YOUR NECK OUT FOR ME?

Some questions are truly personal.

But the answers just have to do with where we are coming from. I remember our background from the days of studying business administration in Lagos State University, and now having to co-work in a field totally out of our jurisdiction.

I WOULD STICK MY ALL OUT BECAUSE I WANT THE WORLD TO SEE COMPETENCE, AND I ALSO BELIEVE IN YOUR POTENTIAL.

Me: Awww πŸ€—...

<<< CUT

Words can't describe the sense of fulfilment that comes with the recent reconnections I have had with people in the course of this series, the same way I can't thank my wonderful audience enough for paying attention all the way.

But it's not over yet, as I hands off the work space and delve into family and friendship in the final post on The "Catch Up" series.

Pls be on the lookout and don't forget to engage me viaπŸ‘‡
