THE "WHERE I WANNA BE" SERIES 2: ASPIRE!!
THE
"WHERE I
WANNA BE"
SERIES 2:
Hi there,
How is it going with you?, I guess great.
It's Consult Kenny Posts again and I'm here in furtherance of The "Where I Wanna Be" Series, where I share practical insights that will show you how to go from aspiration to actualization as it concerns your "wanna be" spaces.
In the introductory post, I shared the experience I recently had with a lost design file, and how my team and I went overboard to retrieve it upon a client's demand. This was to emphasize how important dreams and aspirations are to humans, which points to the subject matter for today's post; ASPIRE.
According to Merriam Webster dictionary; to aspire is "to seek to attain or accomplish a particular goal"
In other words, someone who aspires is assumed to have a strong desire and a plan or goal to achieve such desire.
If this is the case, then I won't be wrong to say "aspirations are personal", which raises a concern on how one can effectively communicate something personal to a larger audience whose responsibility is to help with actualization.
And that's where I come in, as I hope to highlight 3 key components that should guide the aspirations you have for your spaces at all times π
#1:
THE
MISSING
PIECES
Always view your aspirations from the professional's point of view.If you have ever had to help a child who is learning alphabets with a homework where they have to fill missing letters, then you would understand it takes more than desire to attain mastery.
Regardless of how desirous we are to achieve a task, it's important to seek the opinion and guidance of those whose job it is to help us fill the missing pieces.
For instance, the missing piece in the case of your "wanna be" space could be found with a detailed floor plan showing specific dimensions (as seen in the image attached).
I mean there are just somethings you might not be able to capture without the input of an interior designer or space planner.
#2:
THE
OBSTACLES
The bigger the aspiration, the higher the likelihood of bigger obstacles.
This is not to scare you, however having an idea of the obstacles you may have to face on the go, should not be a threat but rather a driving force behind your aspiration.
In my experience as an interior designer and project manager, I have had several instances where archways, beams and columns that should have become obstacles eventually became the distinguishing elements that brought the wow factor into a space.
#3:
THE
EXPECTATION
The above statement is affirmed in my observation of a pattern where the most daring aspirations I have come across in my career are largely from well travelled folks who have become so exposed to places where the missing pieces have been filled, obstacles subdued, and now have their expectations widened.
You can attain that status too by simply sharing details of your space to stand a chance to get a design concept for your dream space in the course of this series.
