THE "WHERE I WANNA BE" SERIES 3: ENQUIRE!!

THE

"WHERE I

WANNA BE"

SERIES 3:

Hey peeps,

Trust this post meets you well and with some insights gained from the ongoing series.

The "Where I Wanna Be" Series seeks to keep my audience informed on what it takes to achieve their dream spaces and in my last post I established the place of aspiration as the starting point from which every achievement takes off.

If you have been following my post I guess you now have an expectation for your work and living spaces. And if you haven't, no worries, just ensure you read to the end of this post to get help.

Now, let's delve into what it truly takes to go beyond wishful thinking as I draw the line between what's ideal and what's achievable, under the heading tagged; ENQUIRE

To enquire is to analyze, check, examine, explore, probe, query, seek, investigate or inspect, all of which requires a set of skill and tool to be carried out.

Let's have a look at a couple of such as it relates to interior design and project management πŸ‘‡

#1:

LANGUAGE

Communication is key in the execution of our aspirations, and language plays a critical role in driving effective communication.

Just imagine measuring units never existed in construction and we have to share our ideas only in our native languages.

A simple drawing of just four lines would sound somewhat like this in English

"line goes east by two point four meters, south by four meters, west by another two point four meters, and then heads northward by another four meters to intersect the origin on axis XYZ"πŸ˜„ πŸ˜‚

Then lets say you have Chinese and Arabian expatriates whom you have to carry along on your project πŸ€”

Measuring unit is a typical example of a communication tool in my field, it's therefore important to know the set of languages to be spoken and what it takes to have them in sync.

#2:

SIMULATION

This definition from twi-global.com says it all for me:

"A simulation is a model that mimics the operation of an existing or proposed system, providing evidence for decision-making by being able to test different scenarios or process changes".

If there is anything I love about building simulation software like AUTOCAD, 3Ds Max, SketchUp, Revit and the likes, it's their ability to undo and redo at a single click.

Just imagine there are no simulation tools in construction and we have to physically bring down buildings to effect corrections and amendments in the course of execution.

Simulation is a tool that eradicates waste of money, time and energy on projects, be sure to take advantage of it.

#3:

PROTOTYPE

Prototype can be described as a first or preliminary version from which other forms are developed.

Do not confuse prototype for simulation, where prototypes are physical models of a design or building used for testing and refinement, simulations are simply virtual representations that model how a system or process might behave under different conditions.

With this in mind, it's therefore important to enquire about existing prototypes or at least what's closest to what you have in mind, as such will come in handy for referencing at some point.

There is no limit to what you stand to gain from making enquiries from qualified professionals regardless of how lofty or lowly they are.
