THE "CITY BOY" SERIES 5: GET THE GIST!!!
THE
"CITY BOY"
SERIES 5:
GET
THE GIST!!!
Hey peeps,
Trust this post meets you well and I hope August is ending well for you.
Kudos to everyone who has followed my posts on The "City Boy" Series where I have been talking about my exploration of cities and the memories of people, places and moments I had in them.
I'm confident my findings were insightful and the gists got you smiling. I remember the gist aboutπ
π£️ Malaysians frequently taking me on dinner outing as though it was an initiative funded by the government of their country π
π£️ And of course, the shocker that got me speak my native language in a foreign city π
Just see all of these and more for yourself here π

I kid you not, exploring cities is fun, however it can be daunting if done wrongly or with a faulty mindset. I mean people get stuck, persecuted and even experience the worst you can think of, however as I wrap up this series, I would like to chip in 3 important lessons you will find helpful in the course of your explorations in the nearest future π
#1:
BE SLOW
TO
JUDGE
Truth be told, in the past I used to be highly judgemental of cities I have had the privilege to explore.
For instance, I once lamented about the poor infrastructure in schools in a particular region in my home country as though the problem was peculiar to them, until I later realized it was more of a national issue than a regional one.
Most of the negative opinions we have about a place or its people are not as true as they appear, hence the need to be slow with our judgement.
#2:
LEARN
FROM
THE
BOOKS
I am an advocate for reading books and I have come across a couple of books written about explorers and their explorations.
There is one book I personally have read and would recommend; the Holy Bible, it is filled with great insights about explorers like
David; a city boy that explored both worlds of the wilderness as a shepherd boy, and the palace as a king
Daniel; a cool dude that chilled with the lions in the den, and also had co-explorers who survived the furnace of fire.
Nehemiah; a project manager who rebuilt the walls of a city in record time despite immense pressure from his opposers.
I don't need to go on and on when you can have a good read downloading the You version Bible app for your mobile device here π

#3:
TAKE A
CHANCE
Every city presents you with opportunities, make the best of them.
I remember my exploration in Northern Nigeria giving me opportunities for social impact and trading. The former earned me a National honors from a government institution in Nigeria (NYSC) in 2014, while the later fetched me extra income with which I explored the agriculture sector where I have interest and investments tilll date.
Connecting the dots you would realize how the points about being slow to judge and learning from others, ends up helping us see and take advantage of opportunities in any city or place we find ourselves.
I hope you will take this as a token from me as I wrap this interesting series with a heart filled with gratitude for your attention ππ
