THE "BEAUTY IN THE MESS" SERIES: SOMETHING FOR THE WORKTOPS!!!

Happy weekend folks, I guess it's coming on well.

My posts in July has been centered around making beauty out of a mess and I hope the insights shared till date have been helpful?

As humans it is expected that we constantly engage our spaces (whether it's for living or work purposes), and in the process we encounter spillage, stains, dents and more.

Rather than get pissed off when it gets messy, why not follow up my posts as I share insights on how you can evoke beauty out of messy spaces.

So, having profered some solutions to messy walls in my last post, today I will redirect your attention to worktops πŸ‘‡:

*#1: GET A HOLD OF IT*

Prevention they say is better than cure, so before we address the issues around stains on worktops let's talk about how they can be prevented.

With the pace of advancement in technology and innovation, there is hardly a product without some accessories invented as an add on to allow for ease of use.

Check out this mat for make up table (as shown in the picture) for instance. It serves as a table top protection for likely spillage of elements from the make up kit.

I assure you there are similar accessories for other tasks carried out on worktops (baking, food preparation, pottery etc).

Trust me, you can get a hold of it.

*#2: EMBRACE THE STONES*

Granites, marbles, porcelain and ceramic are made of stones, and they are known for ease of maintenance, especially for tasks that involve use of chemicals and other hazardous materials.

Of course stones are not as cost effective as other available alternatives like laminate boards or wood, however there is a guarantee of getting an exchange of value for your money when you opt for this option.

And the good news is they can be easily laid directly on existing worktops (as indicated in this picture), which imply little or no need to modify your furniture piece.

*#3: MAKE DO WITH WHAT YOU HAVE*

If u can't get a hold of it, or even embrace the stones, all hope is not lost.

You can definitely make do with your worktop as it were, provided there are no damages that poses any hazard to you.

Just ensure you carry out routine maintenance using the solutions (detergents, wipes, wax etc) appropriate for your worktop. Be sure to check for product specifications on the store shelf as there is no one cap fit all solution for worktops.

I should also mention that this option requires some level of consistency to make it work.

Remember, nagging or yelling is never a way to making beauty out of a mess. Whatever the situation, do not hesitate to keep in touch with me for guidance.
