THE "MAKE IT FIT" SERIES 3:

PROPER PORTION!!

Hello folks,

Trust you are doing great and having an awesome weekend. I assume the love from valentine's day πŸ’ž is still in the air 😍

Still on The "MAKE IT FIT" series, and with the same intention to share insights on how to make things fit within your space, I hope to help you identify and understand basic principles that come to play when making things fit within your spaces.

The first principle, which is Form/Shape was addressed in my last post and you can follow through using this link πŸ‘‡

Taking it further, I will be addressing another principle known as PROPORTION, and to simplify this principle I thought to use a blend of two words "PROPER" and "PORTION", hoping my ingenuity will go a long way to help my audience grasp the role of proportion in making the best of spaces.

And here is what I mean πŸ‘‡

#1:

PROPER

It's question and answer time, so let me ask

Is a bed proper for a bedroom?

Is a sofa proper for a living room?

The answers are obvious right, and that's because the general functions of these spaces are very clear and direct.

But on the flip side, if I ask,

Is your bed proper for my bedroom?, then chances are high you will respond with a question.

This therefore validates the fact that the first hurdle you would have to cross when applying the principle of proportion in your space is the hurdle of PROPRIETY, that is what's proper and most suitable for your space based on the peculiarities of the same.

And how well you identify what is proper for your space will determine how well you maximize the concept of proportions to your advantage.

# 2:

PORTION

Let's just assume you now have an handle of what is proper for your space, there is still one more hurdle to cross, and that's knowing how much of what's proper.

For instance the idea of two beds in a bedroom for two kids is valid, however the size of the bedroom should inform the choice between a twin bed (which is more ideal for a spacious bedroom) or a bunk bed that's just suitable where there is challenge with space.

Getting portions right is a key factor to bringing the best out of your space, and allow me say that it helps you achieve so much result with relatively little input.

#3:

PROPORTION

The merger of proper with portion therefore simplifies the concept of proportion and I hope you find it helpful.

So in summary, it's important you always remember:

- Proper is largely a function of the purpose your space is serving

- Portion is the measure to which proper remains proper 😊

- And lastly, in case it gets all twisted in the process of trying, you are never alone on this, just click

It's perfectly okay to ask for help!!!

In my next post, I will be addressing the concept of BALANCE and how it applies to your space.

Please ensure you follow through.
