THE "MAKE IT FIT" SERIES: INTRODUCTION

THE "MAKE IT FIT" SERIES:

INTRO!!!

Hi folks,

Trust you are doing great and keeping on well.

It's February and I wish you a month filled with greatness and splendour.

I'm delighted to have your audience as always, more so as I launch a new series for the month, where I share insights on how to make things fit within your space.

The inspiration for The "MAKE IT FIT" series is born out of my encounter with spaces costing a fortune to set up, yet failing to make a mark simply because the occupants never paid attention to the importance of making things fit.

There are a couple of principles that come to play when making things fit within spaces, however for the sake of time limit and the need for simplicity, I will be dwelling on just 3 of them throughout this series πŸ‘‡

#1:

FORM/ SHAPES

If you have ever tried placing a round peg in a square hole, then you sure have an idea of what a misfit is.

The advent of internet and social media has birthed what I call a 'copy and paste' syndrome, where time is hardly taken to analyze the elements in one space before they are replicated in another.

In my next post, I will be addressing the concept of forms and shapes and how it applies to your space.

Please ensure you follow through

#2:

PROPORTION

Proportion refers to the relative size and scale of the various elements in a design. The issue is the relationship between objects, or parts, of a whole.

Now it feels like a math class right? πŸ˜€, but allow me simplify this with the screenshot of a food argument I found on reddit.com ☝️πŸ˜€

Whether it's chickenπŸ” and rice 🌾 or rice 🍚 and chicken πŸ—, there is never a one size fit all approach when it comes to proportions in relation to your space.

#3:

BALANCE

Let's assume your favourite colour is red, and as such you have pepper red paint on your walls, oxblood fabric all over your sofa, with burgundy floor covering to round it up πŸ˜€. Come of it!!

The place of balance can never be undermined in creating amazing spaces, hence the need to pay attention to both related and unrelated elements joining forces to make spaces great.

So all through The "MAKE IT FIT" series, I hope to help you establish an instict for form, proportion and balance within your living and working spaces.
