"ABOUT THIS TIME"
SERIES 2:
THE
SEASONS
YOU KNEW
NOTHING
ABOUT!!!
Hi there,
Trust you are doing great and making the best of this summer.
As for me, I'm trying my best to connect with my audience beyond the scope of my job as an interior designer and project manager by referencing cycles of seasons that spans 2 decades of my life, ranging from year 2004 to 2024.
Hence, The "About This Time" Series
Going by my age, the seasons of my life you knew nothing about would likely exceed 3 decades (if you are not a relative, a friend or a colleague), but then I should ask myself; at what points did I become conscious enough to identify seasons of my life and their peculiarities?
Looking in hindsight, the answer would be at points where I was plagued with BOREDOM, and here is what I mean 👇

Location: College of Technology, Yaba- Lagos
I remember vividly, I was just out of high school with no clear direction as to where to head next, besides the obvious which was to seek admission into a higher institution of learning.
I was getting exhausted and bored as a result of long stay at home and so I decided to step out of the house and at least have a feel of what life was like in campus.
So Ayodeji, a brother whom English language defines as my cousin 😂 , was magnanimous enough to host me and show me around YABATECH, a renouned institution in Lagos, Nigeria.
I will be eternally grateful to him for such a privilege.

About This Time 14 years ago 💭🤔

Location: Design Options Showroom, V.I- Lagos
At this point I was in Year 2, studying Business Administration at the famous Lagos State University, and I guess you are asking, what in the world was I looking for in a furniture showroom?
And I should answer; BOREDOM led me there 😀
If you have ever studied in government owned higher institutions in Nigeria, then the phrase "ASUU strike" would resonate with you 😀
Students like myself were out of school for months owing to an industrial dispute between the government and academicians, and then boredom struck again.
Fortunately this time, it got me to enrol for an online course in interior design that eventually got me an opportunity to intern with one of the best interior design firms in Nigeria.
Chris & Lee Brown of www.inteiordezine.com as well as Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo of the then Design Options Ltd. (now D.O II) will never be forgotten in a long time.

Here is another iconic picture of myself taken at the graduation ceremony at Daystar Leadership Academy (DLA) sometime in 2012.
This event was equally born out of boredom, as I got held up for over a year after college, waiting to get called up by the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) for a national service program in my home country.
A singular action that would later birth Feet and Inches a few months later.
So as you have a good laugh gazing at my throw back pictures (the floating sweat top and suit 😂), perhaps there is one lesson you can glean from the memories I just shared:
✅ Boredom can become the tool with which we TRANSITION into a better version of ourselves, provided we are with the right people in the right environment.
I hope this helps someone
