THE
"BLUE,
RED,
& PURPLE"
SERIES 3:
GET
REDDISH!!!
Trust this post meets you well, it's always a pleasure to have your audience every weekend π
This month is all about exploring the world of colours and in my last post I highlighted color blue being a part of the mix in The "Blue, Red and Purple" Series, I guess it was insightful.
β₯οΈ For lovers of colour red, it's your day today as I will be sharing insights on the meaning and associations of colour Red in this post.
π For those wondering how on earth color red can feature in a space, be sure to follow through this post.
β And then if like me, you have your reservations about color red, I advise you read to the end as I share my opinion on the subject matter as well.
It's important I mention that my take on colour red is a divergent opinion and I hope it won't be misinterpreted.
Anyways, I will give it a shot knowing I have a very open minded and considerate audience π
Ready | Set | Go π
#1:
MEANING
&
ASSOCIATIONS
Thinking of dominance, power and passion then think red. Also you wouldn't be wrong to associate colour red with extroversion, optimism, confidence and action.
Red is translated "Aka" θ΅€ in Japanese and is associated with life, energy, and the sun.
For the Chinese, red (HΓ³ngsΓ¨ de ηΊ’θ²η) is a symbol of good luck, prosperity, and happiness, often worn by brides on their wedding days.
On the flip side, you would also find red associated with unpleasant emotions like anger, hate, aggression and so on.
Studies also suggest that red can raise blood pressure, respiration rates, and enhance metabolism.
Let's just say red is a mix of the good, the bad and the ugly π
#2:
RED AND
YOUR
SPACE
In the part of the world where I have spent most part of my life, colour red is not the ideal colour to feature in a space. This is largely because red is perceived as a symbol of diabolism, hence pulling a wrong impression of it's users.
However my exposure and experience as an interior designer has proven such notions to be wrong, as I can say confidently that color red (or any variant of red) will do great in a space provided it is adopted in the appropriate measure.
Trust me when I say color red is superb for
πΊ Focal walls (as seen in the picture attached)
πΊAccent furniture pieces
πΊ Wall art and decorative ornaments
πΊAnd much more
You can give red a try one of these days.
#3:
RED
&
ME
Colour experts are of the opinion that red is the most contradictory color because it has more opposing emotional associations than any other color.
Personally I have had to ponder how a single colour could symbolise two extreme expressions, π€
π€ red is associated with love and also with danger
π€ red means stop, and yet signifies passion and drive which are symbols of movement
π€ red imply prosperity in some climes, yet remains the most suitable colour for describing bankruptcy π
And wait for this, red is a symbol used by rescue agencies like the Red Cross, yet used to denote emergencies and casualties π€π¬πββοΈ
Maybe this is the most controversial statement ever made on Consult Kenny Posts, but remember it's just a personal opinion and at worst a harmless banter on colour red.
I honestly hope to hear your opinion about my assertions as I'm open to having a rethink on this matter.
Feel free to revert on your thoughts as well as engage me on your project π
