THE "HOW IT ALL BEGAN" SERIES 3: THE PROCESS!!
THE
"HOW IT
ALL BEGAN"
SERIES 3:
THE
PROCESS!!
Hello peeps,
It's good to have you here again, trust you are having a great time this weekend.
My posts in the past two weeks have been quite interesting as The "How It All Began" series gives my audience a hint of what spaces go through before they are transformed into what you admire.
After the introductory post, I started off with outcomes of 3 projects defining 3 periods in the history of my career as an interior designer and project manager.

Now to the process;
In my over a decade experience working with spaces I have come to realize that processes are largely the same, regardless of what project it is or the period it belongs to. And so I adopted the famous phrase "All for one, one for all" from the all time novel, The Three Musketeers, to drive home my point.
Here are 3 inseparable elements in the process of a project👇
#1:
SCOPE
Defining scope is expedient in the life cycle of a project, as there is no justification for any project without a scope.
For instance, here is the before status of a bathroom renovation I recently got on, and the scope included repositioning of sanitary ware, changing of tiles, and incorporation of a shower cubicle.
All of these specifications helped define the boundaries of the project and what is included and excluded, which leads to the next element; TIME
#2:
TIME
This is the timeframe within which the project must be completed. It includes the start and end dates and any milestones along the way. However it is important to note that scope determines time.
Referring to the bathroom renovation earlier cited, the timeframe for just replacing the sanitary ware would be shorter than what it would take to reposition the same, not to mention the changing of wall tiles which also required more time.
And so upon sighting the image attached to this slide, you would expect that the renovation took a longer time than normal due to the scope of work.
#3:
COST
I like to call this element "the big elephant in the room" and that's because it rubs off heavily on both scope and time without their permission.
While scope and time have an important role to play in a project, the impact of cost in the mix of these Three Musketeers cannot be downplayed.
Back to the case study bathroom renovation, there is no doubt it cost more to accomplish the outcome you see in this video than it would cost having a lesser scope tied to a shorter timeframe.
And there are several other instances I can cite outside of here.
