THE "MISSING LINK" SERIES 2: THE WHY!!
THE
"MISSING
LINK"
SERIES 2:
THE WHY!!
Hi Guys,
Happy Valentine's Day Celebration, it's lots of love 💕 from me and my team to you.
It's mixed feelings as I look back to my younger years celebrating Valentine's Day, I remember the dating, the gifts and of course the many heartbreaks. I guess you can relate with this.
Now as an adult raising kids, I seem to relate with the version of valentine that's about sacrifice more than the one that just oozes romance.
I should say purpose is the missing link between both versions of the same tale, and this is exactly what plays out in our spaces.
Having an idea of the purpose a space 'should serve' helps solve the problem of misfit and establishes alignment. My post today therefore highlights 3 angles (out of many) from which this can be achieved👇
#1:
KNOW
THYSELF
Know who is meant to occupy a space. And by this I am not referring to your bio data (gender, age, height).
Like the famous quote by Socrates; "know thyself", spelling out details of your personality, style and preferences before making a move to choose or set up your space is one way to improve your chance of getting it right.
For example knowing you are introverted will help you consider spaces for activities that keep you indoors (reading, movies, cooking), while on the flip side an extroverted person may consider spaces for activities that bring homies into their space (dining, sports).
First seek to know yourself.
#2:
KNOW
THE
TIMING
The time or season of life in which we live also has a lot to do with what's ideal for our spaces per time.
Using a growing family as an example, it's easier to maintain a smaller space for a family with toddlers than it is for one with growing teenagers, why?
The former is in a season of bonding, while the latter is now in a place where everyone is most likely yelling for privacy.
While this claim may be true for many, It's however important to note that the question of what is affordable should override my line of thought in this case
Albeit be mindful of timing.
#3:
KNOW
THE
TREND
I understand you have bias for some elements (let's take wood for example), and perhaps the picture you have for your dream space shows an all wooden space.
The question is, does this concept still apply to existing and emerging trends?
Nothing should stop you from having your preferred elements feature in your space, however there is the need to have an open mind that allows for an infusion of trends.
And here is a note of caution; do not mistake trends for the most popular pictures or adverts online.
Perhaps you need some clarity on this, please feel free to reach out to me here 👇
