THE "ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL 4:
DRESS UP!!!
Hello folks,
Trust you are doing great this weekend.
I guess you have been following my posts through The "All Things Being Equal" series, as I seek to unveil the equations behind what makes components within your spaces work effectively.
If you have been in class then you must have come across the formulas I devised along the line of each component highlighted so far in this series. Here is a recap 👇🏼
FLOOR + WALL x CEILING= SPACE
COOKER - √SINK ÷ COOLING⁴= THE KITCHEN TRIANGLE
πAMBIENT x {ACCENT} x ¢TASK= LIGHT UP
Of course there is hope for those who missed or skipped classes as you can catch up with notes and explanations using the link below 👇🏼
Now to the business of the day; WARDROBE/ CLOSET
As essential as the wardrobe or closet is to your daily living, it happens to be one of those components that is largely approached as an afterthought in many spaces.
I hope this post help address this dilemma as I beam the spotlight on 3 must-haves for your wardrobe.
Now let's give it a shot 👇🏼
#1:
STORAGE
This is where all the hanging, folding and stacking happens and I should say there is no wardrobe without storage.
Since this is a crucial part of a wardrobe then it should be treated as priority, however the challenge with storage is in answering the question of how much space is to be allocated to hanging, folding and stacking.
There is no 'one cap fit all' solution to this challenge but it is important to consider factors like lifestyle, age, gender and dress style as the storage solution suitable for a corporate executive who needs hangers for suits and blazers, could be an outright disaster for a college kid with stack of jeans and sweat shirts.
#2:
RACKS
Once you have a handle of storage, then think about racks as the next priority in your wardrobe or closet.
Basically the rack houses items like shoes, jewelleries and your clothing accessories, and are usually an afterthought.
If you do not have ample space to feature racks, then I suggest ad-ons that help you maximize vacuums in your wardrobe.
Use lower end for shoes, corners for belts/ties and middle height for suspended drawers for jewelries and accessories, as they have been displayed in the picture attached to this slide.
#3:
DRESSERS
This is the most ignored feature in a wardrobe or closet and it's simply because of the limited space that storage and racks are already contending for.
On the premise of the popular saying "what is what doing, is worth doing well", let's make a case for your dresser by engaging concepts that serves multiple purpose like the mirror and drawer at the centre of the wardrobe in this picture.
All you need do is grab a dressing chair or stool each time you need a dresser. Got ya 🤪
In all fairness, all of the above features work best in a cluster forming a C, L or U- shaped closet, however all hope is not lost if you don't have the luxury of space for this.
STORAGE² ÷ ⅜RACK - DRESSER^= WARDROBE
